Curriculum Vitae (Résumé)
Dr. Hughes joined the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as an assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2019. Currently, Dr. Hughes is the primary instructor for the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary, Acute Care, Integumentary, Physical Agents, and Management of Special Populations content within the UMHB curriculum. Additionally, Dr. Hughes serves as a member on the Student Engagement and Retention and DPT Curriculum committees within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and holds special interest in curriculum assessment and maximizing student success. Dr. Hughes has been a practicing physical therapist since 2010 and has worked in a variety of settings ranging from the acute and critical care settings, outpatient post-surgical care, and skilled nursing facilities. Throughout her years as a practicing clinician, Dr. Hughes found passion caring for patients in the acute setting and specialized in wound management. Dr. Hughes became a Certified Wound Specialist through the American Board of Wound Management in June 2019. Dr. Hughes is a member of the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) including the Acute, Cardiopulmonary, and Education Sections of the APTA. Dr. Hughes and her husband live in Temple, Texas, and have two sons. The Hughes’ family worships at Vista Community Church.
