Christian Studies trip to Greece and Turkey
December 2026
Visit the sites of the historic churches mentioned in Paul’s letters and Revelation while developing on understanding the culture of this region and how it impacts the reading of the New Testament texts. An excellent opportunity for Christian studies majors/minors to get an upper-level New Testament credit or for students of any major to earn three hours of upper-level elective credit while exploring the lands of the Bible. Students will enroll in the fall B-term CSBS 3300 SA: Lands of the Bible and complete the trip portion over winter break.

Nursing trip to Belize
December 2026
Experience the heart of global nursing through a mission-focused study abroad experience in Belize. Nursing students serve local communities by participating in medical pop-up clinics, conducting health screenings, and providing health education on topics that promote wellness and disease prevention. Beyond clinical service, students build relationships with the people of Belize while learning about the country's culture, healthcare system, and unique healthcare challenges. This life-changing opportunity encourages students to live out the nursing profession's commitment to compassionate service while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Along the way, students will earn credit for either NURS 4310: Global Perspectives in Health Care or NURS 3301: Nursing Care for Population Health, depending on the degree plan; see your advisor for more information about the course that’s right for you!

Art trip to Paris
May 2027
In Art History in Paris: From Impressionism to Today we will discover how Paris transformed from a traditional cultural art hub into the epicenter of modernism. This course traces the revolutionary 19th and 20th century artistic movements that defined the city as the global capital of art. By combining classroom lectures and critical readings with direct, on-site exploration, you will experience history right where it happened. We will stroll the same streets as Van Gogh, grab a coffee at Picasso’s favorite coffee shop, and dive headfirst into the artistic legacy, history, and culture of Paris, exploring sites including the Louvre, the Catacombs, Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower and many others. We will also venture outside Paris for day trips to Versailles, Giverny, Reims, and Ghent. This course isn’t just about studying art history; it’s about living it. This is a spring semester course with a May trip; any major may take this course.

Business trip to Lithuania and Latvia
May 2027
Experience global business beyond the classroom through an immersive study abroad program in Lithuania. Discover how culture shapes global business while exploring one of Europe's fastest-growing trade regions through immersive, hands-on learning. Students will visit the Ports of Klaipėda in Lithuania and Riga in Latvia; tour international shipping and logistics companies, import and export businesses, insurance agencies, and brokerages; and gain firsthand insight into how goods move across the global marketplace. Along the way, you'll develop practical knowledge of international trade, supply chain strategy, logistics, and risk management while experiencing the rich history, culture, and traditions of the Baltic region. Whether you're interested in supply chain management, international business, logistics, or global commerce, this unique opportunity will expand your worldview, strengthen your résumé, and prepare you to succeed in today's interconnected global economy. And you’ll earn credit for either BADM 3351 – Culture and Global Business or BMGT 3391 – Special Topics: International Supply Chain, whichever best fits your degree plan, at the same time!

EXSS trip to Spain
May 2027
Backpack across northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago while earning credit in Advanced Backpacking & Cultural Immersion, Lifespan Nutrition, and Fine Arts Experience. Explore culture, health, food, and global citizenship through active learning, hiking, and reflective journaling in this unforgettable faculty-led study abroad adventure. Any major may take this trip.

Spanish trip to Barcelona
May 2027
Experience Barcelona while earning academic credit through a study abroad program that brings Spanish language and culture to life. Students will explore Barcelona’s rich history by wandering the medieval streets of the Barri Gòtic, admire the iconic architecture along Passeig de Gràcia, and engage with local culture through visits to vibrant markets such as La Boqueria and Mercat de Sant Antoni. The program also includes opportunities to experience Barcelona's waterfront at Port Vell, enjoy panoramic views from Montjuïc Hill and Castle, discover the peaceful beauty of Parc del Laberint d'Horta, and observe everyday Catalan life in Parc de la Ciutadella. These experiences reinforce classroom learning by providing authentic opportunities to practice Spanish, develop intercultural communication skills, and deepen understanding of Spain's history, art, gastronomy, and contemporary society. Whether completing introductory language courses with SPAN 2320: Spanish 4 or advanced Spanish coursework in either SPAN 3340: Advanced Composition and Stylistics or SPAN 3390: Studies in Hispanic Civilization, participants will strengthen their linguistic proficiency while gaining global perspectives through cultural immersion.

Education trip to Belgium and the Netherlands
Summer 2027
UMHB's Doctor of Education students will participate in a global learning experience in Belgium and the Netherlands, exploring innovative schools, leading universities, and international organizations shaping the future of education. Through engagement with scholars, educators, policymakers, and doctoral students, participants will examine diverse educational models while gaining firsthand insight into teaching, learning, research, and educational leadership from a global perspective. Along the way, they will complete EDAD 7302 E1 - Professional Ethics and Values and EDAD-7315-E1 International Trends in Education Leadership, thus completing 6 hours of credit toward their degrees.

English trip to the Baltics and Poland
Summer 2027
In this 24-day program, explore the history and culture of the Baltics and Poland during the Cold War period (1945-1990) by reading the works of dissident writers and significant thinkers. All majors can earn their core literature credit by taking ENGL 2336; English majors can earn credit for ENGL 3335: Contemporary Global Literature. Visit the capital cities of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, as well as other important sites: Auschwitz, Rundāle Palace, the Plokstine Missile Base, the Hill of Crosses, Old Krakow, the Wieliczka Salt Mine, the Rothko Museum, and many others.
