The Windhover Writers' Festival
The Windhover Writers’ Festival is hosted by the literary journal The Windhover at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. In February the festival brings in featured presenters in multiple genres to give readings and lead workshops. In addition to the main events, the festival also features panels comprised of local, regional, and national writers sharing their poetry, fiction, nonfiction.
New to 2025, the festival will be larger and include craft talks, pedagogy and academic panels, exhibitors, breaks with refreshments, and more. Lunches and refreshments are included in the registration. This next festival will be bigger than ever. In fact here are several things new to the festival in 2025:
- Exhibitor Hall
- Craft Talks
- Craft Feedback Workshops*
- More Panels
- More people!
The arrangement of the festival benefits writers of all levels as they hear and see published author’s expertise on display in the main events, interact with the featured presenters in workshops, and network with fellow writers, editors, and publishers. Our goal is to create a space where writers of all levels can integrate their faith into carefully crafted work and find encouragement and learn to be better writers.
Be sure to follow The Windhover Facebook page and The Windhover Twitter feed @WindhoverMag for information about the festival and the journal.
The next festival will be February 19-21, 2025.
To submit a proposal as a panel presenter, see the full CFP here.
*Attendees can elect to register for one of five workshops; poetry, fiction, nonfiction, improvisation, or craft feedback (see "Speakers and Presenters" page for more on workshops).
