Math Placement
If you plan to major in a program that requires or recommends MATH 1430 Calculus or MATH 2303 Statistics, we recommend taking the ALEKS math placement test. ALEKS is an online, proctored exam that helps place students into the appropriate UMHB math course.
Although ALEKS does not provide course credit, it can help you skip lower-level prerequisites—saving you time and money.
Majors that are strongly encouraged to take ALEKS:
MATH 1430 – Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Biology (Clinical Lab Science, Life Science, Pre-Vet), Science 7–12 Certification
MATH 2303 – Nursing, Pre-Health (Pre-PT, Pre-PA, Chiropractic, Medicine, Dental, Optometry, Pre-OT, Pharmacy)
