Army ROTC at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor develops students into confident leaders while they earn a college degree. Whether your goal is to serve on Active Duty, in the Army National Guard, or the Army Reserve, Army ROTC provides leadership experience, mentorship, and professional development that prepares you for success in both military and civilian careers.

No prior military experience is required, and there is no military obligation during the first two years of the program.

Your Path to Becoming an Army Officer

Years 1–2

Student Life at UMHB

Army ROTC is designed to complement your college experience—not define it.

Cadets at UMHB are first and foremost college students. They pursue a wide variety of academic majors while participating in athletics, intramural sports, student organizations, campus ministries, academic honor societies, and part-time employment. Army ROTC provides leadership opportunities that enhance the college experience while allowing students to remain fully engaged in university life.

Beyond the classroom, cadets build lasting friendships through leadership laboratories, physical training, field training exercises, Ranger Challenge, Color Guard, volunteer service, and social events throughout the year. These shared experiences foster teamwork, confidence, and a strong sense of community that extends well beyond graduation.

How to Get Started

Interested students should enroll in any ROTC first year course through their academic advisor or the UMHB Registrar.

Students are encouraged to attend orientation events and meet with ROTC cadre to discuss scholarship opportunities, degree planning, and commissioning pathways.
