Take the Admissions Exam: Students applying to the Scott & White School of Nursing must complete either the TEAS Admission Exam OR the HESI Admission Assessment Exam (A2) before the application deadline. Exam scores must be uploaded to the Program Documents section in NursingCAS as part of the application.
TEAS Admission Exam Criteria
To meet minimum requirements, applicants must achieve:
- A minimum overall score of 65%
- A minimum score of 65% on the Reading section
- A minimum score of 65% on the Math section
Students should log in to their ATI account to access their scores. Additional support is available on the ATI help page.
When registering for the TEAS exam, students should select University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as the recipient of their scores. Official transcripts from previous TEAS attempts can also be purchased and sent here. In addition, applicants must upload both overall and individual section scores to their NursingCAS application.
HESI Admission Assessment Exam (A2) Criteria
To meet minimum requirements, applicants must earn:
- A minimum score of 80 on the Math section
- A minimum score of 80 on the English Composite section
The HESI A2 exam is offered online through ProctorU. To register and test, students must create an account via the ProctorU Student Portal. For technical assistance, visit ProctorU Support.
Testing Guidelines
- Applicants may test up to two times per application cycle, with a minimum 30-day waiting period between attempts.
- Students may:
- Take the same exam twice (either TEAS or HESI), or
- Take one attempt of each exam (TEAS and HESI) within the same semester, as long as the 30-day rule is followed.
- Scores cannot be combined or “super scored” to meet minimum requirements.
- This includes scores not sent directly to the UMHB Scott & White School of Nursing.
Recommendations - It is strongly recommended that students complete at least one exam attempt 30 days prior to submitting their application to allow time for any necessary retesting.
Fees - Students are responsible for any fees associated with the required testing.
Study guides are available at the Circulation Desk in the UMHB Library, and additional materials can be found at the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE). Students also have the option to purchase official exam review materials independently through ATI Testing for the TEAS exam or Elsevier for the HESI A2 exam.
