About Career Services
Mission
The mission of University Career Services, a division of Student Life, is to encourage and assist students in the discovery of their unique talents and gifts, development of career and job-related skills, and leadership in purpose and vision as they pursue their vocation.
Our Services
Full-Time and Part-Time Jobs
The Career Center maintains full-time, internships, and part-time job openings in Handshake. Students may set up Handshake job agents.
Resumes
Individual appointments may be made to go over your resume. We will help you customize your resume to the targeted or semi-targeted search for an internship, part-time, or full-time position.
Interview Skills
Mock interviews are offered to prepare for a job interview. Topics include questions frequently asked by interviewers, how to prepare, how to dress, nervous habits, and more. Mock interviews should be scheduled in advance.
Career Assessment
Assessments provide information on your interests, abilities, career competencies, and values. Many students take an assessment to help them select a major or minor, or clarify careers they can pursue. We offer the Focus 2 Assessment free of charge for students and alumni. Contact Career Services for instructions and for an appointment to review your results: (254) 295-4691 / careerservices@umhb.edu.
